There is an interesting article on depression in Scientific American.  If this article is true, and depressed people are better at certain types of thinking (ruminating), could this could be harnessed to better one's trading? Personal experience says yes, but I'm curious about everyone else.

I didn’t read the whole article yet, but from my observations young traders in our firm usually developed bipolar disorders and as they grew older it turned into full fledged depression, some moved on from trading others committed suicides, all my guys say 7 years seem to be the cut off for full time for traders without going nuts (or some form of mental abnormality). Automating your trades helps a great deal. But my observations are hardly big enough sample size to draw any conclusions.
