Here's a great Communist illustration from 1911 beating up on Capitalism. It's so beautiful that we should find a way to use it in the DailySpec. Of course it's wrong, but still beautiful in that pre-1917 Soviet influenced style that has artistic merit.

On the poster, just replace the clergy with the media (We fool you) and the formal diners with politicians and flexions of all stripes (We eat for you), and you could not have a clearer picture of the modern US regime.

capitalism pays you to be less human. i agree with it completely when i see these debauched oversexed college kids and hard working entry level people who turn to sex and debauchery when faced with obstacles. i am happy they get to experience wrath as a result of their overindulgence. they don’t deserve to coast by. and Taleb said it best, something along the lines of humans think of three things money, knowledge, sex. most of the time one of them, sometimes two of them, and never all three. it is the most noble thing a human can do is to strive to kill the animal that is a part of us.

@Mr. Wallin, You might have greater success in converting a group of Hasidim to the Nazi party than getting anyone to pay attention to Taleb’s philosophy at DS.

But yet that other “post-1917 Soviet influenced style” may have some merit still…

Constructivism has been much maligned and too-narrowly perceived. Apart from its well-known use as a ‘propaganda’ [but then again, what art style isnt?] media form and style, some point to its influence on Modernist architecture through the Bauhaus movement which has certainly shaped the modern world as we now know it (for better or for worse), in cities from coast to coast, continent to continent. While cold exterior cladding of steel and glass may not appeal to all, at the very least, constructivism directly spawned the creation of some of the most delightful interiors, fixtures, lighting and not in the least, furniture design in the last century (apparently also among some baby-boomers…).

    I prefer this-

    “Stand and deliver!
When I sees any one better of than myself I have a right to go shares”
