The American Dream, from L. J. Endicott
March 28, 2011 |
What is the American Dream?
The Dream is to work, to have a home, to get ahead. You can start as a janitor and become the owner of the building. The American Dream is not written into the constitution but it is so ingrained in the national psyche that it might as well be.
Bo Keely comments:
The American Dream is still alive and that's why I return occasionally to USA from globetrotting to selective Shangri-Las around the world. Though the American Dream there is diminished and threaded with nightmares, after 100+ countries it's still the best place to own property, work to get ahead, and use as a base to travel from during retirement.

Would Mildred’s Chicken and Waffle House existed with today’s social transfer payments?
Can you please do a post describing how you securely access and carry money as you roam abroad? Thanks.
that would be good. the bo has had 150 near death experiences at least. and he can take care of himself in any situation. very good at defending himself et al .always prepared. once let me try to electrocte myself and stood by with a piece of wood in case he had to push me off without hurting himself. and I”ve only known him 35 years. but during that time, he’s had money stolen ffrom him at least 10 times that he’s told me about. ( the last when a confederte of a woman crawled out from under the bed ). so if even he cant be safe, what chance does th ordinary personage like me and mine have? vic
