J WI have found that with airlines hosting "Express Check-in" (security) lines for luxe class members (First and Business class seats and loyalty/upgrade members), it is enough to simply look business to pass through and avoid the long cattle-chute line for the "poor" people. Three times now (twice in Chicago and once at another airport) I've used these despite my economy class ticket — just flashed my boarding pass with my thumb over the word "Economy" and bypassed the long line. The checkers at these things don't care enough to bother as long as you don't look like riffraff.

James, are you comfortable cheating your fellow human beings? What you are doing is plainly wrong.

    RiffRaff:

A more interesting question perhaps would be to ask why the airlines offering these services are allowed to monetize access to security that is presumably offered to all travelers equally by the TSA, “a component of the Department of Homeland Security” (a gov’t, taxpayer-funded agency)? Or, perhaps to ask if the money being spent by luxe class members for this service is being rolled into better security to make your flights safer and your security better.

Inasmuch as I find it irresistible to game any system that I encounter, and that by profession it is in my interest to probe retail systems, yes, I am comfortable with my choice.

Maybe I will try and “game” James Wisdom’s home security system next time he is flying! Just kidding of course!
